Langoo Terms of Use
These Terms form a binding contract between you and Langoo. They are drafted in accordance with French and European law (GDPR, French Consumer Code, French Civil Code) and with Apple's App Store rules.

1. Purpose, publisher and acceptance
These Terms govern access to and use of the Langoo app, its free and paid features, and all related services.
PublisherIn these Terms, "Langoo", "we", "our" and "us" refer to the publisher and developer of the Langoo app, acting as data controller under the GDPR and as service provider under the French Consumer Code.
Express acceptanceBy downloading, installing, creating an account, purchasing a subscription, recording voice content, submitting written content, or using the app in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms without reservation. If you do not agree with one or more clauses, you must immediately stop using the app.
Formal acceptance at sign-upWhen creating an account, you must expressly tick the acceptance box for these Terms and for the Privacy Policy. Your consent is time-stamped and stored in a dedicated database as legally enforceable proof in the event of a dispute.
Additional rulesYour use of Langoo is also subject to Apple's App Store terms, the technical requirements of your device manufacturer, and any mandatory consumer-protection laws that cannot be contractually waived. The rights granted to you by those rules remain fully applicable.
2. Eligibility and minimum age
Langoo is intended for users old enough to use a digital service within a lawful and safe framework.
Minimum legal ageUse of Langoo is restricted to persons aged at least 13. In France, pursuant to article 45 of the amended French Data Protection Act, a minor under 15 must have the authorisation of a holder of parental authority. If you are a minor, by accepting these Terms you declare that you have the authorisation of your legal representative.
Higher local ageIf the legislation of your country requires a higher minimum age to use online services or to validly consent to the processing of personal data, you may only use Langoo once that legal threshold is met or once a parent or legal representative has given any authorisation required by applicable law.
Accuracy of age informationYou undertake to provide accurate age information when requested. Langoo reserves the right to suspend, restrict or delete any account whose age information appears false, inconsistent or non-compliant with applicable law or platform rules.
Protection of minorsThe voice and AI features include content-moderation safeguards. Langoo reserves the right to block, flag or remove any content unsuitable for a minor, and to cease providing the service to any account violating this rule.
3. Account creation, authentication and security
The user is responsible for the account they create and for the information associated with it.
Account informationWhen creating or completing your account, you may be asked to provide information such as your first name, last name, age, country, e-mail address, native language and target language. You undertake to provide accurate, complete and up-to-date information, and to correct it when necessary.
Authentication providersLangoo uses Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) and the Sign in with Apple feature to authenticate users, manage sessions, secure credentials and enable password reset. Use of these services is subject to the respective policies of their providers.
Confidentiality of credentialsYou are solely responsible for the confidentiality of your credentials (e-mail address, password, Apple ID), for controlling access to your device, and for any actions performed from your account. You must notify Langoo immediately in the event of any suspected fraudulent use, compromise of your credentials, or any security incident affecting your account.
One account per userUsers undertake not to create multiple accounts in order to circumvent technical, contractual or pricing limits, or eligibility for promotional offers, including the 3-day free trial. Any attempt to circumvent these rules may result in immediate termination of all concerned accounts, without refund.
4. Subscriptions, pricing and payment terms
Access to Langoo's premium features requires a recurring paid subscription billed through the App Store.
Available plansLangoo offers three flat-rate subscription durations, each unlocking 100% of the features (exercises, languages, AI): a monthly subscription at €12.99, a six-month subscription at €64.99, and a yearly (12-month) subscription at €119.99. Displayed prices include VAT applicable in France and may vary in other jurisdictions depending on local tax rules applied by Apple.
Payment via AppleAll payments are made exclusively through the App Store in-app purchase system (StoreKit). Langoo does not collect, store or process any full bank-card information. Apple acts as the payment intermediary and provides a tax receipt accessible from your Apple account.
Automatic renewalPursuant to section 2.2.2 of the Apple Developer Program License Agreement, your subscription renews automatically for the same duration at each expiry, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Renewal is charged automatically to the payment method associated with your Apple account.
Plan changesYou may switch between plans at any time (from monthly to six-month, from six-month to yearly, etc.) from the "My Subscription" screen. Apple automatically applies a pro-rated credit for the remaining period and never overlaps two subscriptions on the same period.
Price revisionLangoo reserves the right to modify its prices at any time, for the future only. Current subscribers keep their price until the end of their paid period. For future renewals, any significant increase will be notified in advance through Apple, and you may choose not to renew.
5. 3-day free trial
A 3-day introductory offer is available to new subscribers, within the limits set by Apple and by our tracking database.
Eligibility conditionsThe 3-day free trial is reserved for users who have never used it, either through their Apple ID (verified by Apple via isEligibleForIntroOffer) or through their e-mail address (verified by our tracking database hosted on Firebase Firestore). Any user who has already benefited from this trial, including on a deleted account or on another Apple ID, cannot benefit from it again.
Cancellation during the trialYou may cancel your subscription at any time during the 3-day trial via your Apple account settings, with no charge. If the subscription is not cancelled before the end of the 3 days, the first charge will be applied automatically at the rate of the selected plan.
Right of withdrawalPursuant to article L221-28 1° of the French Consumer Code, the 14-day right of withdrawal does not apply to digital content supplied on a non-tangible medium whose performance has begun with your express consent. By activating your subscription and using the app, you expressly request immediate performance of the service and expressly waive your right of withdrawal.
RefundsRefund requests are handled exclusively by Apple in accordance with its public policy (support.apple.com/HT204084). Langoo cannot grant partial or full refunds outside of Apple's process. Six-month and yearly subscriptions paid in advance are not subject to pro-rated refund in the event of cancellation.
6. Subscription cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time, in accordance with Apple's rules and applicable consumer law.
Cancellation procedureCancellation is performed from Langoo's "My Subscription" screen by tapping "Manage via App Store", or directly from iOS Settings → your profile → Subscriptions → Langoo → Cancel Subscription. You may also cancel from a computer through your Apple account at apple.com/account.
Effect of cancellationCancellation is effective at the end of the current paid period. You retain full access to the app until that date. No further charge will be made after the expiry date. After that date, your access to premium features will be automatically suspended and the subscription page will reappear.
No partial cancellationSix-month and yearly plans cannot be cancelled early with pro-rated refund. Cancellation takes effect at the natural end of the paid period.
ReactivationYou may reactivate your subscription at any time by purchasing again from the app. A new subscription may however not include a free trial if you have already used one.
7. Personal licence to use
Langoo grants you a personal, limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the app.
Limited licenceSubject to your compliance with these Terms and effective payment of your subscription, Langoo grants you a personal, worldwide, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the app for personal and non-commercial language-learning purposes.
RestrictionsYou undertake not to copy, distribute, sublicense, resell, commercially exploit, decompile, disassemble, reverse-engineer, circumvent technical protection measures, interfere with the infrastructure, massively extract data from the app to build a competing dataset, or use Langoo in a way that exceeds the rights expressly granted.
No transfer of ownershipYour use of Langoo does not grant you any ownership rights over the app, its source code, its pedagogical structure, its brand, its prompts, its proprietary workflows, its databases, its visual design, or any other intellectual property of Langoo.
8. User content (voice, text) and AI features
Langoo processes your voice and written content to deliver the learning features, in compliance with the GDPR.
Nature of processed contentThe Voice Coach, Echo, Real Conversation, DictoFlash and Exercises features allow you to record audio answers, submit written answers, continue dialogues with an AI assistant, and answer exercises. You remain responsible for the lawfulness and appropriateness of the content you submit.
Processing authorisationBy using these features, you authorise Langoo and its technical subprocessors (OpenAI, Render, Firebase) to host, transmit, transcribe, analyse, store and process your audio recordings, transcriptions, prompts, written answers and session content, strictly for the purposes of delivering the requested feature, evaluating your answer, maintaining conversational context, improving security and operating the educational service.
Limits of AIThe AI used by Langoo may produce corrections, answers, examples, translations, prompts, scores or recommendations that are imperfect, incomplete, inaccurate, delayed or unsuitable. AI outputs must be considered as educational support only, and not as legal, medical, psychological, financial, professional, administrative or immigration advice. You must not rely on AI outputs for decisions with significant stakes.
Moderation and banningLangoo reserves the right to moderate, filter, restrict or remove any content it deems illegal, contrary to these Terms, inappropriate, abusive, hateful, of a sexual nature involving minors, or harmful to the safety of the platform. Any abuse results in immediate suspension of the account.
9. Prohibited behaviour
Langoo must be used lawfully and respectfully, without harming the service, its publisher or others.
Prohibited usesYou undertake not to use Langoo to upload or submit unlawful content, infringing content, malicious code, abusive, harassing or hateful content, content of a sexual nature involving minors, misleading information, spam, automated data-extraction requests, unauthorised security-testing traffic, or any content that violates applicable laws or the rights of third parties.
Infrastructure interferenceYou undertake not to probe, disable, overload, damage or circumvent Langoo's servers, APIs, rate limits, subscription controls, account controls, prompts, anti-abuse systems or security features.
No critical useYou must not use Langoo as an emergency service, as a substitute for professional judgement, or in any high-risk scenario where an error could cause significant material, physical, financial or legal harm.
10. Intellectual property
Langoo is protected by copyright, trademark law and database rights.
Langoo's rightsThe "Langoo" brand, logos, app design, user interface, pedagogical structure, lesson system, curated content, software components, back-end architecture, system prompts and all other original elements are protected by intellectual-property law and unfair-competition law, and belong exclusively to Langoo or to its licensors.
Third-party servicesSome parts of Langoo rely on third-party technologies provided in particular by Apple Inc., Google LLC (Firebase), Render Inc. and OpenAI LLC. These providers have their own contractual terms and technical limitations. Langoo cannot be held responsible for obligations that fall exclusively on these third parties under their own agreements with you.
Your rights over your contentYou retain the rights you hold over audio, text and other content you submit, subject to the operational licences you grant to Langoo for operating the service (hosting, processing, display, analysis solely for the purposes of running the app).
Feedback and suggestionsIf you send ideas, bug reports, suggestions or feature requests, you authorise Langoo to use them without restriction and without financial compensation, except where mandatory legal provisions require otherwise.
11. Service availability
Langoo endeavours to keep the service running, without however guaranteeing permanent availability.
No guarantee of uninterrupted accessLangoo cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability of the service. The app may experience downtime, latency, AI-model limitations, bugs, maintenance windows, security incidents, network failures or outages of third-party providers.
Service changesLangoo reserves the right to add, remove, suspend, replace or modify features, content, AI models, lesson structures, pricing, subscription plans or technical requirements at any time, for operational, legal, security or commercial reasons, including when a provider changes or discontinues a service.
Personal backupsYou are responsible for preserving any information you wish to independently keep, to the extent that the app allows export or copy, as features or content may evolve over time.
12. Suspension and termination
Langoo may act to protect the service, comply with the law and enforce these Terms.
Termination by the userYou may stop using Langoo at any time and manage or cancel your paid subscription via Apple. Where account deletion is available in the app, you may also request deletion of your account and associated personal data, subject to the Privacy Policy and applicable legal retention obligations.
Langoo's measuresLangoo may suspend, limit, disable or terminate your access, with or without notice where reasonably appropriate, in the event of a breach of these Terms, a legal or security risk, attempted fraud or abuse, false age information, non-compliance with Apple's rules, or where continued access could harm Langoo, other users or third parties.
Effects of terminationUpon termination, your right to use Langoo ceases immediately. Clauses that by their nature should survive termination (billing already incurred, intellectual property, warranties, liability, dispute resolution, legal retention of data) remain fully applicable.
13. Warranties and limitation of liability
These clauses allocate risks within the maximum limits permitted by law, without removing your mandatory consumer rights.
Service provided "as is"To the maximum extent permitted by law, Langoo is provided "as is" and "as available". Langoo does not guarantee uninterrupted availability, full accuracy, perfect voice transcription, perfect scoring, absence of AI errors, specific learning results, universal compatibility with any device, or fitness for a particular purpose.
Exclusion of certain damagesTo the maximum extent permitted by law, Langoo, its publisher and its providers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive or exemplary damages, nor for loss of profits, turnover, goodwill, data, reputation or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with use of or inability to use Langoo.
Liability capTo the extent permitted by law, and save for any mandatory obligation to the contrary, Langoo's aggregate cumulative liability towards you for all damages, causes of action and obligations is capped at the amount actually paid by you to Langoo during the 12 months preceding the triggering event.
Preservation of consumer rightsNothing in these Terms excludes, limits or deprives of effect any warranties, remedies, legal rights or consumer protections that cannot legally be waived under French law, in particular the legal warranty of conformity (articles L217-3 et seq. of the French Consumer Code) and the warranty against hidden defects (articles 1641 et seq. of the French Civil Code).
14. Force majeure
Langoo cannot be held liable for non-performance caused by an event of force majeure.
DefinitionA force-majeure event is any event beyond Langoo's reasonable control that could not have been foreseen or prevented, including in particular: natural disasters, war, terrorism, general strike, major power outage, failure of a critical third-party provider (Apple, Firebase, OpenAI, Render), cyber-attack, government or judicial decision.
EffectIn the event of force majeure, Langoo's obligations are suspended for the duration of the event, without triggering Langoo's liability. If the force-majeure event persists for more than 60 days, either party may terminate these Terms without compensation.
15. Personal data
The processing of your personal data is governed by Langoo's GDPR-compliant Privacy Policy.
Dedicated policyLangoo's processing of your personal data (collection, purposes, legal bases, retention periods, recipients, international transfers, security, data-subject rights) is detailed in Langoo's Privacy Policy, accessible from the home screen and from Settings → Privacy Policy.
ConsentBy accepting these Terms, you acknowledge that you have been informed of the processing of your data as described in the Privacy Policy, and you give your consent to processing activities that rely on a consent legal basis (in particular microphone access for voice features, handled through the iOS system permission).
16. Indemnification and legal compliance
You remain responsible for any unlawful or abusive use of your account and your submissions.
Your responsibilityTo the extent permitted by applicable law, you undertake to defend, indemnify and hold Langoo, its officers, employees, contractors and subprocessors harmless from any claim, liability, damage, cost and expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your unlawful use of the service, your breach of these Terms, the content you submit or any violation by you of a third party's rights.
Compliance with lawYou undertake to use Langoo only in compliance with applicable laws, the rules of the app stores, intellectual-property rights, privacy rights and any age or export restrictions that apply to you.
17. Modification of the Terms
These Terms may evolve to reflect changes in the product, the law or the service providers.
UpdatesLangoo may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, security, commercial or product changes. The version displayed in the app is the version in force. Each version is identified by a number (e.g. 2026.04.22).
Acceptance of an updated versionIn the event of a material modification, the acceptance checkbox at your next sign-in will be automatically unticked. You will have to tick it again to express your express acceptance of the new version. Without this acceptance, you will not be able to continue using the service.
Individually recorded acceptanceEach acceptance is time-stamped and kept individually in a dedicated database (Firestore collection legalAcceptance), together with the accepted version number, the UTC timestamp, the app version and your identifier. This evidence is enforceable in case of dispute.
18. Severability and non-waiver
These Terms are severable and are strictly applied.
SeverabilityIf a clause of these Terms is held to be illegal, void or unenforceable by a competent court, the other clauses remain in force to the fullest extent permitted by law. The invalid clause shall be replaced by a valid one pursuing the same economic and legal objective.
Non-waiverThe fact that Langoo does not exercise, tolerates or delays the exercise of a right under these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right.
Entire agreementThese Terms and the Privacy Policy, together with any additional notice displayed in the app, constitute the entire agreement between you and Langoo regarding the service, and replace any prior written or oral agreement relating to the same subject matter.
19. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by French law, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection provisions.
Applicable lawThese Terms are governed by French law. If you reside in a Member State of the European Union, you also benefit from the more favourable mandatory provisions of the law of your state of residence.
Amicable resolutionIn the event of a dispute, you are encouraged to first contact Langoo in writing at the support address provided in the app, in order to seek an amicable solution.
Consumer mediationPursuant to articles L611-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, every consumer has the right to free recourse to a consumer mediator in the event of a dispute with a professional. You may also use the European online dispute resolution platform: ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
Competent jurisdictionFailing amicable resolution, any dispute shall be brought before the French courts with territorial jurisdiction. If you are a consumer within the meaning of the preliminary article of the French Consumer Code, you may bring proceedings, at your choice, before one of the courts with territorial jurisdiction under the French Code of Civil Procedure, or the court of the place where you were residing at the time the contract was concluded or where the harmful event occurred.
